And he said:Ĭame to me, and standing there said to me, ‘Brother Saul, recover your sight.’ And at that very ( autē | αὐτῇ | dat sg fem) hour I recovered my sight and saw him ( auton | αὐτόν | acc sg masc3rd).Īnd he said, ‘The God of our fathers has chosen you to know his ( autou | αὐτοῦ | gen sg masc3rd) will, to see the Righteous One and to hear a voice from his ( autou | αὐτοῦ | gen sg masc3rd) mouth.įor you will be a witness for him ( autō | αὐτῷ | dat sg masc3rd) to everyone of what you have seen and heard.Īnd now why are you waiting? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his ( autou | αὐτοῦ | gen sg masc3rd) name.’Īnd I saw him ( auton | αὐτόν | acc sg masc3rd) saying to me, ‘Make haste and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’Īnd I said, ‘Lord, they themselves ( autoi | αὐτοί | nom pl masc) know that I used to go from one synagogue to another imprisoning and flogging those who believed in you.Īnd when the blood of Stephen, your witness, was being shed, I myself ( autos | αὐτός | nom sg masc) was standing by approving and guarding the cloaks of those who were killing him.’ ( auton | αὐτόν | acc sg masc3rd) And when there was a great hush, he addressed them in the Hebrew language, saying:Īnd when they heard that he was addressing them ( autois | αὐτοῖς | dat pl masc3rd) in the Hebrew language, they became even more quiet. When he got to the stairs, Paul ( auton | αὐτόν | acc sg masc3rd) had to be carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the mob,įor the crowd of people kept following and shouting, “Away with him!” ( auton | αὐτόν | acc sg masc3rd)Īnd when he ( autou | αὐτοῦ | gen sg masc3rd) had given him permission, Paul stood on the steps and motioned with his hand to the people.
Some in the crowd were shouting one thing, some another, and since he ( autou | αὐτοῦ | gen sg masc3rd) was unable to find out the truth because of the uproar, he ordered him ( auton | αὐτόν | acc sg masc3rd) to be brought into the barracks. Then he asked who he might be and what he had done. Then the commanding officer came up and arrested him ( autou | αὐτοῦ | gen sg masc3rd) and ordered him to be tied up with two chains. They seized Paul and dragged him ( auton | αὐτόν | acc sg masc3rd) outside the temple, and immediately the gates were shut.Īnd while they were trying to kill him ( auton | αὐτόν | acc sg masc3rd), a report was sent up to the commanding officer of the detachment that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.Īt once he took along some soldiers and centurions and ran down to them ( autous | αὐτούς | acc pl masc3rd) and when they saw the commanding officer and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.
Then all the city was stirred up, and a mob of people quickly formed.
